There were also some pretty nasty monsters walking the streets.
In what has become a Yorktown Heights tradition of over half a century, hundreds of families came out in full costume for a Halloween parade and fall carnival at Jack DeVito Veterans' Memorial Field and Track.
The event was sponsored by the Yorktown Lions Club, Yorktown Parks and Rec, and Rexall.
Everything at the event was free for Yorktown residents, including goodie bags donated by Rexall and all games and activities at the carnival.
"We got an excellent day, and the fact that Rexall made up 850 goodie bags and donated them is great," Kim Angliss-Gage, a co-coordinator of the event told Daily Voice. "I believe we have over 3,000 people here, and they love it. Everything here is free. The parents love it, the kids love it.
"We have a lot of great things here," she added. "The PBA, hayrides, the fire department, DJs, bouncy houses, the games are interactive... and they can run around."
Parents of young children seemed to be enjoying themselves.
"The kids are having so much fun, and it's always great to see people from the community," Jennifer Sanjurjo, who was there with husband, Andrew and their son - in full superhero costume. "Everyone is enjoying the Halloween spirit, and it's great that everything is free. The kids think it's awesome."
